The CIC® credential identifies healthcare professionals who have shown mastery in knowledge of infection prevention and control by sitting for and passing the certification exam. IP Certification Review online course
This on-demand prep course includes nine in-depth modules corresponding to the content areas of the certification exam, one general chapter about taking the exam, and a timed practice exam using retired CIC exam questions.

Designed for those preparing to take the CIC exam or recertification exam, this interactive course will teach the fundamental concepts of IPC practice and provide test preparation tips, strategies, and practice questions. APIC’s Competency Model
The updated APIC Competency Model for the IP reflects the dynamic nature of the IPC field. Patient safety remains the core of IPC practice. New to the updated model is a focus on the continuum of care. The updated model has four career stages and six future-oriented competency domains to guide IPs in progressing through the career stages and pursuing leadership roles.
Developmental Path of the Infection Preventionist
As part of APIC’s mission to create a safer world through prevention of infection, APIC provides evidence-based, scientific, and proven resources to infection preventionists, healthcare professionals, and patients.
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC®)
CIC® status identifies healthcare professionals who have shown mastery in knowledge of infection prevention and control. It also shows a commitment to best practices in infection prevention and control and improved patient care. Certification also signals to your employer and your colleagues that you are committed to professional growth and advancing the practice.
Accreditation & Contact Hours
APIC is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
One contact hour is defined as one hour of time spent in an educational experience.
Course evaluations will be available via an online link provided in course materials. All evaluations must be completed within 30 days. After satisfying all evaluation requirements, a certificate of completion will be available to print and/or for your records indicating CEs.
